Multi-enzyme creatinine biosensor

Partially as an extension of the UriMoniā„¢ project, ParaMedir is working towards a miniaturized biosensor for monitoring of creatinine. Measurement of creatinine concentrations is clinically relevant for conditions such as diabetic nephropathy, kidney failure, preeclampsia, obstruction of the urinary tract, and pathologies related to muscular distrophy.

The creatinine biosensor that ParaMedir is developing will be suitable for both point-of-care (POC) and continuous-monitoring applications in biological matrices such as urine, sweat or saliva. Its measurements will be highly sensitive and selective. To allow this, ParaMedir is investigating the inclusion of multiple enzymes as biorecognition elements on the sensor surface.
