Lactate biosensor

ParaMedir is developing a miniature biosensor aimed at monitoring lactate in biological matrices. Lactate is a pivotal marker of a disturbed energy balance in the body. As such, its monitoring is of importance for sports, but also in the context of medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease or brain trauma. However, lactate measurements are of interest to (food) industry as well.

The biosensor that ParaMedir is developing will deliver reliable and continuous monitoring of lactate over a broad range of concentrations, with exquisite sensitivity and selectivity.

The project is supported by the The Northern Netherlands Provinces Alliance (SNN) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The EU is funding this project in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
